One Control Experience Across Hundreds of University Spaces
A large university may have around 1,500 rooms, approximately 600 teaching spaces equipped with multimedia systems, and more than 5,000 devices managed by its technical team.
One of the biggest challenges in an environment of this scale is infrastructure diversity.
AV systems are built and upgraded over many years. As a result, a university campus may include different brands, several generations of equipment, and multiple approaches to system control.
For lecturers, this can mean a different way of starting and running a class in every room. For AV and IT teams, it means a more complex environment to operate and support.
This is where a consistent control logic becomes especially important.
The equipment itself does not have to be identical in every room. One space may have a projector, another an interactive display; other rooms may include video conferencing, BYOD, cameras, microphones, lighting, blinds, or climate control.
But the user experience can remain familiar:
- Lecture
- Presentation
- Video Conference
- Hybrid Class
What can iRidi bring to this environment?
- ProAV Control Processor Basic — for standard classrooms, meeting rooms, and smaller multimedia spaces.
- ProAV Control Processor Advanced — for more complex classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums, and spaces with more extensive AV infrastructure.
- iRidi Touch Panels — as a central control point for lecturers, administrators, or technical staff, providing access to room scenarios, source selection, audio, cameras, and other connected systems.
For a university, this provides a way to bring different types of rooms into a common control framework.
Lecturers get a more consistent way to start and operate a class. Technical teams can work with a more unified approach to room operation and support. And integrators can develop a repeatable architecture that can be adapted to different room types — from a small classroom to a hybrid lecture hall.
A large campus cannot replace or standardize all of its AV equipment at once. But it can create a consistent approach to control — and gradually extend it to new classrooms, buildings, and shared spaces.

A Technology-Driven Smart Apartment with Custom iRidi Pro Visualization
A technically sophisticated and highly customized automation project for a 100 m² apartment, featuring a bespoke control interface built with iRidi Pro.
The clients work in the IT industry, so technology and system flexibility were key requirements for the project.
During installation, 2,500 meters of cabling were laid throughout the apartment.
The system includes:
- voice control;
- lighting automation;
- home cinema control;
- climate control;
- motorized curtain control.
The project also features a range of preconfigured automation scenarios designed around everyday use.
The result is an integrated apartment automation system in which technology remains largely in the background while the key functions are easy to access and control. Lighting, climate, curtains, voice control, and home cinema are brought together within a unified user experience.
Best wishes,
iRidi team
